Keynote: Understanding the Microsoft Platform
Windows Vista has released, along with the Office 2007 system. Windows Server “Longhorn” is in Beta 3. These are the technologies that you need to be familiar with. Why are these technologies important, and where is Microsoft going next? This session will set the stage for the remainder of the sessions throughout the day, introducing you to key technologies and concepts that are discussed more deeply in the breakout sessions.

Introduction to ASP.NET AJAX 1.0
AJAX is the abbreviated form of the term Asynchronous JavaScript and XML. AJAX is not a technology, but rather a description of a design pattern that uses many existing technologies such as DHTML and XMLHTTP. These technologies have long been available to developers, but the tools for making this easier have not been readily available. With the release of ASP.NET AJAX 1.0, Microsoft is providing an incredibly easy to use and powerful framework for AJAX-enabled web applications that automatically provides cross-browser support. This session will demonstrate how Microsoft is building rich support for AJAX technologies into ASP.NET, and will demonstrate how you can use these technologies today to quickly build rich user experiences with little or no code.

About the Speakers
Mark Dunn has over 20 years of experience in the disciplines of software engineering, database administration, and project management. Software that Mark developed for the radio industry is still in use today. He was a lead developer on the team that created Tapscan, a well-known Arbritron ratings analysis package that has dominated that industry for many years. For the past three years, Mark has been awarded MVP status for his contributions to the Visual Studio .Net community and he serves as Microsoft's Regional Director covering the Southeast United States. Mark also co-founded .Net Rocks, an Internet radio program for .Net developers recognized in over 80 countries and now hosted by Microsoft on the MSDN site. Mark is a Microsoft Certified Trainer, Application Developer, Solution Developer for .Net, and Database Administrator.
Danny Ryan is a Principal Consultant at ThreeWill. Danny often speaks for Microsoft on collaboration technologies such as SharePoint, Groove, and InfoPath. He has produced technical content for Microsoft on ASP.NET, IIS, SharePoint, Microsoft Office, C#, SQL Server, and Live Communications Server. He has over ten years of software consulting experience. He co-authored an ASP.NET Book with his brother and business partner, Tommy Ryan. He has recently created a 7 hour video on building solutions using SharePoint 2007 technologies. Danny started his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where he was part of growing their Microsoft Ecommerce Practice for a product called Microsoft Site Server. Eric Troup is a Platform Strategy Advisor for telecom at Microsoft. He joined Microsoft in 2004 and currently works with service providers, ISVs, and industry organizations to promote the most effective use of Microsoft development tools, platforms, and service offerings. Mr. Troup’s telecommunications career began at New York Telephone in the mid 1980s where he held various management and operations positions.
